A Fresh New Beginning |
|
*Sometime in the mid afternoon the x-men's trademark
aircraft, the Blackbird, streaks across the nights sky
with remarkable speed, and maneuverability. Anyone from
the outside would think it a rough ride, but the hand
full of students barely feel that they’re in the air*

So we're switching schools because
of Emma, why are you guys? |

So many things have happened in the old
school. All horrible. I’m hoping this new school will be different. Besides, I
can't stay there with what happened to Jay. |

I couldn’t stay there with
Jean-Paul’s monument right outside my window; I cried a lot. |

Josh |
No choice. Dani's my legal guardian, remember? |

Mark |
My parents live in Chattanooga, so it’s a
lot closer to home. |

Get away from Dad. After Mom died, and Dad
spending all his time with Emma, and Rachael and Chris leaving the school it
feels like I’ve got no family there. |

"Girls, that is enough." |

*Later in the
cockpit of the X-jet sit three X-men: Professor X the
founder of the X-men, Scott Summers aka Cyclops the leader
of the X-men, and Emma Frost aka White Queen his recent
lover* |

Emma, what was that? |
|
Emma |
Just saying goodbye to my girls Scott. I'm going miss
them.
|

Prof.
X |
You know Nicolie's leaving to Scott,
aren't you going miss him? |
|
Scott |
Of course I am Professor. He's my youngest son. He's the
last thing I have left of Jean. I'm going miss him
terribly, but he hates me *Scott’s voice goes deeper
and quieter as he begins to think of Jean* and wants to
be as far away from me as possible. |

Prof.
X |
He is indeed his mother’s child, and I’m
sure this is just a phase.
|

Emma |
He’ll get over it, Scott. The new
school was a stroke of genius, Charles. How ever did you
afford it? |

Prof.
X |
Well, I am a millionaire. |
|
Emma |
My, how interesting and how ever did
you find the students
Charles? Not many mutants are left since the sentinels
went on their mutant massacre a year ago. |
|
Prof.
X |
Well, it wasn’t easy, but fortunately the
sentinel attack focused more on the eastern coast line’s
big cities than in the south. |
|
Scott |
And who exactly is the headmaster, Professor? It can't be
you, you’re a talented man, Professor, but running two
schools, I think is much even for you. |
|
Prof.
X |
I approached Moira about it, and she said
she'd love to. Also I’m going to need to talk to the two
of you later, I may be taking a trip for a while to look
into some locations for other schools |

Scott |
Yes well, the school has done well without you before,
Professor, I’m sure it will again. |
|
Emma |
So who do you have as teachers, Charles? |
|
Prof.
X |
Well as soon as Ororo heard about it, she
and the rest of the X.S.E. were on board. |
|
Emma |
Wonderful, I never did like
the X.S.E. staying with the X-men. There wasn’t enough
distinction between the two groups to the public eye. |
|
Prof.
X |
Well that wasn’t quite enough teachers.
So
I asked Bobby, Dani, and Sam to join them, and they were
very happy to oblige. I also found some of the
few human teachers who were mutant friendly, and they
also agreed to teach. As you may imagine I’ll be paying
them a bit more than they would be making working for
the public school system, so that may have helped their
decision along. |

*The night is
a clear one thanks to Storm’s mutant powers of weather.
The teachers await the arrival of the much anticipated
X-jet. Dani, Storm, Bobby, and Rachael are ecstatic to see
the Professor once more who is like a father to each of
them * |
Rachael |
It feels great to finally branch out and have a place to
ourselves. Wonderful weather, Storm! |

Thank you, it was actually a pretty simple task, the
weather in the south is beautiful, especially here in
Tennessee with the mountains catching most of the clouds
before they get to the valley. |

Dani |
The mountains remind me of home… |

Bobby |
I love the mountains too, it's nice to be able to drive
45 minutes and be in freezing temperatures where my
powers are amplified, then drive back and it be 70
degrees. This new school is great, I love it here. |

Rachael |
You sure you don’t
just love being here because I’m here too?

*Rachael and Dani giggle.*

I’m not sure what you mean*blushes*.
Ahh well I’m gonna go ahh do that thing I gotta do.
You
know I gotta go freeze that thing that needs to be
frozen so ahh bye! |

Bobby*I need to check on my little brother

Oh yes, I had heard he was coming. |

Yeah, he’s pretty powerful
Storm. He has the same power as Dani did at her age, but
stronger and like her, he can’t control them. |

Ororo |
Well you should have seen when I first gained my powers. |
|
Rachael |
Well lets... *face goes flush
white and Rachael looses her balance for a second* |

Ororo |
Are you ok?? |
Rachael |
Yes… Emma just sent me a mental message. She should be
arriving any second now, so I guess I’ll be going. Seeya
Ro, and good luck *walks off* |

* The school
is in an uproar of excitement as they await the founder
of the school and the latest addition to the student
body. In the school's uproar, Damian, a boy gifted or
cursed with the powers to steal another’s powers, mind ,
and their very life essence, bumps into another student,
Marshal who has the the mutant ability to, through
physical movement, control the basic elements of nature.
In all the ruckus Damian never even notices he
accidentally bumps into Marshal; his bare skin making
contact with Marshal's arm, causing him to go into a
sudden daze* |

Marshal |
*holding his head*what...
what...what was that??? |

Raven |
It was that kid, the one covered from neck to toe, he
bumped into you why?
|

Marshal |
Uhh man, I can’t think straight*holds
head as he feels the room spin*
|

Raven |
He’s getting away; you had better say something soon! |
|
Marshal |
Huh? I’m sorry, I still can’t think straight. I feel
really lightheaded. |

Raven |
*yelling*
HEY WHAT
THE HELL WAS THAT!?!

Damian |
*turns around a bit
confused*Excuse me! |

Raven |
Hey what was that you just did? |
|
Marshal |
I’m not sure, but I would like an explanation too.
|
Damian |
Wouldn’t we all, but I’m still not sure as to what I
did. |

Marshal |
I walk past you, and now I can’t think straight, so,
obviously, you did something freak, now what was it?! |
Damian |
Trust me, you weren’t thinking straight before! Besides
I thought this was a mutant school for learning, and
understanding, and all that crap! |

Marshal |
Who said it wasn’t a mutant school? *ignites
one had, and freezes the other*
|
Damian |
*smile
on his face*Ohh please stop showing off!
*using his mutant powers
Damian is able to replicate Marshal's powers down to the
smallest detail and creates a small breeze to snuff his
fire and uses a small blast of fire to melt his ice*
Guess you’re not so hot after all… |

How did you do that! |
Damian |
Huh! I guess it’s just one of those perks of being a
freak! *turns around and walks
into the shadows* |

Marshal |
What a weirdo…*turns to Raven*Hey
where did you go.... |
|
*In a
different part of the mansion old New Mutant team leader
and fellow teacher Danielle Moonstar sits on a large red
leather couch with her kid brother, Jonathan Moonstar.* |

Dani |
So Jonathan, how do you like the school so far? |
|
Jonathan |
Well sis, it's pretty cool; but its just, well…, what if
people don’t like me cause of my powers. |
|
Dani |
Hey, I went through exactly what you’re going through
right now when Xavier started the New Mutants team. My
teammates didn't mind, and eventually I got my powers
under control. |

Jonathan |
If you say so… |

Dani |
Well cheer up, I have a surprise for you Jono. |
|
Jonathan |
What’s that Dani? |
|
Dani |
Well, it’s been a while since we've seen each other, and,
well…, some things have changed. |

Jonathan |
And what exactly has changed Dani..?..?... |

Dani |
Well, meet Joshua. *points to
the golden skinned, blonde haired youth who recently
entered the room* I'm his legal guardian, so
it sort of makes you two like cousins, or something like
that. *smiles and walks away* |

|
*Somewhere else in the huge complex that is the new
school for mutants in a vast room sit two X-men Lucas
Bishop and the mysterious young woman named Tessa sit
around the mutant seeking computer that is known as
Cerebra.* |
Lucas |
Do you really need that keyboard Tessa? I thought the
glasses you and Hank designed for us linked us straight
into the computer. |

Tessa |
Normally Lucas they would, but the
Cerebra computer we
have still lacks some major components that only Xavier
himself knows how to put on, which is why he is even
here. |
Lucas |
Ahh ok, what is it that you're doing anyway? |
Tessa |
Moira told me to assign the new students to dorm rooms;
I'm having some difficulty with some of them though.
Hmm.... I suppose I could always place Damian with
Marshal together.

Lucas |
Damian and Marshal? Aren’t those the two who Rachael
said had a bit of a calling out in the hall? Why would
you choose them? |
Tessa |
Indeed. I believe that they could learn something from
being one another’s room mate. It's almost like placing
night and day together. Speaking of which, the twins
Gloria and Gale should be together. |
Lucas |
Well, aren’t they an
obvious choice? |
Tessa |
Be it an obvious choice or not, their powers are based on
the other being close by so it's the logical choice. |
Lucas |
Who else do you have so far? |
Tessa: |
You'll just have to wait to find out like all the
students *clicks a button on
the screen, and a disc pops out of the computer. She
then shuts the computer off, stands up, and begins to
walk away*Are you coming? |

*In another part of the school another sibling duo
conversation is starting out.* |
Rachael:

Are you sure you wanna come here, and not stay with
Scott? |
Nicolie: |
No way, ever since he started dating Emma it's like I don't even exist. By the way Rach, why don't
you call Dad
Dad anymore . |
Rachael: |
I lost my respect for him
when he started the affair with Emma. That’s also the
same reason I changed my last name to Grey. |
Nicolie:

Wish I could change my last name. Right now Summers
isn’t the best name if you catch my drift. And speaking
of names, hope you don’t mind the play of the name, you
know, you being Marvel Girl and me Marvel Boy. |
Rachael: |
Not at all. It was
Mom's name first and I took it out of
respect. I think she might have been proud of you having
that name.

Nicolie:

Now all we need is Cable to change his name to Marvel
Man and we got the whole family.
HAHAHAHAHA |
Rachael |
Hey, I see the way you look at the Cuckoos; do you have a
crush on one of them? |
Nicolie:

Huh? No way! Rach! Stop using your telepathy! |
Rachael |
And who says I need telepathy. I'm your older sister, I
can tell. |
Nicolie: |
Well, I do but I’m not
telling you who. |
Rachael:

You don't have to, cause
I'll use my telepathy. |

*Later that
night at the schools large auditorium the entire
school's student body sits in the nicely made chairs
listening to Professor Xavier speak one of his famous
speeches.* |

Prof. X:
|
Ahh! Students, welcome to our new branch of the
Xavier School for Higher Learning. I am very glad all of
you could come join us! As you know this is not the
first school for mutants, and it will definitely not be
the last! But this also means that I will not be able to
be the headmaster of this school, so I am glad to
introduce Dr. Moira MacTaggert, your new headmistress.

Thank you,
Charles. As my fellow colleague and friend, Charles has
already stated, I am Moira MacTaggert. And I am the
headmistress of this school. This school is here to help
you not only get your vast powers under control but to
teach you how to live in a society that distrusts and,
most often, hates you. Now we can only show you how to
use your powers and teach you right from wrong. What you
do after you graduate from here is your choice and yours
alone.

academy The dorm room assignment list has been posted
and that I have spoken with not only Charles but with my
own staff about having mini squads were we can see just
how capable you are in your powers. Our very own Tessa
will have the squad list posted tomorrow on the schools
bulletin board found just outside my office the dorm
room lost can be found their right now as well. Now you
may all go and have a wonderful evening. |
